About the Book

We all work hard and strive to be our best, at the workplace and at home. We are eating better, exercising more, and investing in longer, healthier lives. But we want to appear as young and vibrant on the outside as we feel on the inside.

Improved self-esteem makes people more outgoing, productive and giving. Confidence in our appearance and in the way others perceive us translates into happiness, success and a fuller life. My goal as a physician who has dedicated himself to the field of Aesthetic Medicine is to help patients feel good about the reflection that greets them in the mirror each day.

Cosmetic surgery has become increasingly popular in recent years and the demand for procedures without downtime has exploded. Enter Botox® Cosmetic, a myriad of wonderful lasers, fillers for every wrinkle and crease, and lotions and potions galore.

No longer are cosmetic treatments secretive or limited to women and celebrities. Today we share information and rejoice about the positive impact these procedures have on our lives. Society has embraced cosmetic treatments and aesthetic intervention is now our way of life.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that humor is so often at the leading edge of changes in society. We use jokes and cartoons to express – and sometimes mask – how we feel. Laughter makes talking about issues easier and allows us to speak about the very things that once were only whispered among the closest of friends.

With this book, I hope to share the lighter side of the transformation of Aesthetic Medicine from a private whisper to the roar that is echoing throughout popular culture today. Sometimes a touch up, or in this case,
a little laughter is just what the doctor ordered.
